Josephine "Jo" March was the principal character for the novel "Little Women" 1868 and 1869 by Louisa May Alcott.
The novel was the story about four sisters of the March Family. When the story was started, Margaret "Meg" March, the eldest sister was 16, Josephine "Jo" March, the second sister was 15, Elizabeth "Beth" March, the third sister was 13 and Amy Curtis March, the forth sister the youngest was 12.

The novel had been adapted for some movies.

In the movie "Little Women" 1917 directed by Alexander Butler, Mary Lincoln acted as Meg March, Ruby Miller acted as Jo March, Muriel Myers acted as Beth March and Daisy Burrell acted as Amy Curtis March.
