She was a member of the California-based Group f/64. Ansel Adams, John Paul Edwards, Sonya Noskowiak, Henry Swift, Willard Van Dyke, Edward Weston and Imogen Cunningham joined in this group. The group was named from large-format camera’s smallest aperture setting.
In 1932, the group mounted an exhibision at The De Young Museum, San Francisco, and the group released their "Group f/64 Manifesto".

In 1915, she presented the nude photograph of Roi George Partridge, her husband. It cased scandal.

In 1974, Judy Dater presented the photograph "Imogen And Twinka At Yosemite" for her respect to Imogen Cunningham. Judy Dater and Twinka Thiebaud, the nude model are very influenced by her and her photograph.
